California enacts unprecedented ban on rat poisons - Los Angeles Times
AB-2552 was approved by the Governor on 9/25/24. On January 1, 2025, the remaining anticoagulant rodenticides will be added to the existing moratorium.
PFA is grateful to the California Senators who voted to pass AB 2552 into law.
I provide a link to the Center for Biological Diversity press release. We thank Lisa Viani of RATS and the Center for Biological Diversity team for spearheading these efforts and informing us. We are grateful to Assembly Member Friedman for introducing the Assembly Bill. We are also thankful to Poison Free Malibu, who has tirelessly focused on legislation and efforts to keep people, pets, and wildlife safe from the dangers of poisons. We also thank State Assemblymember Jacqui Irwin for her vote in favor of the Bill.

California Assembly Approves Expansion of Toxic Rat Poisons Ban - Center for Biological Diversity
Here is an action plan and legal update from our friends at Poison Free Malibu.
Here is the latest update on AB 1788, the California Ecosystems Protection Act.
AB 1788 places a moratorium on the use of Second-Generation Anticoagulant Rodenticides.
Passed: State Senate - a vote of 23-7
Concurrence by the State Assembly - a vote of 46-11!
It is up to Governor Gavin Newsom to sign the bill into law.
On Tuesday, September 29, 2020, Governor Newsome SIGNED California Bill AB 1788!
AB 1788 went into effect on January 1, 2021.
These poisons are not allowed in most cases for residential or commercial use.

Difethialone
EFFECTIVE 1/1/24 - DIPHACINONE
Exemptions include wineries, breweries, medical and pharmaceutical companies.
If you see bait boxes with labels containing the above poisons, document the location of the poisons and other pertinent information (pest control company supplying the poison, etc.). Take a picture of the bait box. DO NOT TOUCH THE BAIT BOX.
Report the information to the Agricultural Commissioner in your area.
